Cannot Install this Hardware

I have recently replaced my OEM CD-ROM device with an LG GSA-4163B DVD-RAM
recorder. The New Hardware Found wizard tells me it has found the device, but
insists that it cannot find any Windows XP (SP2) drivers. Even if I check the
"do not prompt me to install this software again" checkbox, the wizard still
fires up next time I reboot. I understand from LG that the only drivers
required are supplied as standard with Windows XP. Can anyone tell me what
has gone wrong and/or how I might fix this?

Hmmm. I removed the DVD-RAM drive and replaced it with the old OEM CR-ROM.
The New Hardware Wizard now insists it cannot find drivers for this either -
even though they must have existed three days ago as the drive was installed
and working perfectly. I installed SP2 about 6 weeks ago - could this problem
be related to something having been corrupted by SP2?
