Since posting I tried deselecting (msconfig) NIS service as well as the
"SUPER" softwares and rebooting. Then I tried to run the Java stand
alone installer and I tried to install from the Java site. Neither
worked. Also, I checked my IE settings again according to instructions
from the Java help site and found my settings to be as required.
