Cannot Install MSI packages

I receive the message "The System Administrator has set policies to prevent
this installation" whenever i attempt installing a MSI program. All of the
changes I have attempted do not help. I have Turned UAC OFF. I have set upa
'real' administrator account. for the installations. I have disabled
defender. I attempt installation as administrator. Nothing works. What else
might I do to fix this problem? I am running Vista Business.

Hi Linda,

Click Start and select Run, type the following.....
secpol.msc then OK.

It may take a few seconds for the menu to appear.
Select Local Policies then Security Options.
Scroll down to "User Account Control"
You will see several.
Look at the very first one, is it set to Enable or Disable?

SG...the 'User Account Control:Admin Approval Mode...' is disabled.

Unfortunately the change didn't help. I tried the install using both 'owner'
and administrator ids; both give the same error.

Open a Command prompt.
Type: msiexec /unregister and press Enter.
Type: msiexec /regserver and press Enter.
Try the install again.

If the above don't work take a look in your Registry at the following...

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\IPSec\Policy\Local]
In the right hand pane do you see anything?

Unfortunately the msiexec commands did not help.

The registry values are Name (Default) Type REG_SZ Data (value not set)
