Cannot Install New Sidebar Gadgets

I hope some one can help me. I am unable to install any new sidebar
gadgets. The gadgets that came with Vista, (contacts, currency,
weather, etc.) I can "Add Gadget" ok.

When I go to "Get more gadgets online", then I have issues. When I
pick a gadget, then click the download button, I get the Install and
Don't Install buttons. Clicking the Install button causes a message to
appear on my status bar, then nothing. I don't know what the status bar
message says because it is only there less than 1 second. Nothing is
downloaded to my computer and no new gadget appears in the Add Gadget
list.

I tried installing a gadget 2 different ways.
1. I manually got a .gadget file and double clicked. It installed in
my ../appdata/local/microsoft/windows sidebar/gadgets folder but when I
try to "Add Gadget", it doesn't appear.
2. I copied the gadget folder directly to
../appdata/local/microsoft/windows sidebar/gadgets folder. Still no
dice. Just for fun, I copied the gadget folder to the c:\program
files\windows sidebar\gadgets folder and to the c:\program files
(x86)\windows sidebar\gadgets folder. Still nothing.

I tried resetting some .dlls based on another page's recommendation but
that did not work. I also tried deleting my settings.ini file. This
also did not work.

So here I am. Not sure how to proceed further. Please help.

I am running the 64bit version of Vista Home Premium.

Depending on your screen resolution, and how many gadgets you have showing,
your gadget may be there - but off screen and to the right. Remove some of
the other gadgets and the one you just installed may magically appear!
