I just bought Norton Antivirus 2007 and I cannot install it on my new
computer which has WINDOWS VISTA. I have been told I need a PATCH to
download to make Norton Antivirus compatible with Windows Vista...
I have looked both on the Microsoft site and the Symantec site and cannot
find it.

Hi Sylvia,

Norton AV is not completely compatible with Vista despite what i
claims. There have been a number of issues of corruption to Window
Mail and other problems in Vista. I would recommend using one of th
free antivirus program such as Avast or AVG instead. They are very goo
programs with no reported problems with either the x32 or x64 Vist
versions. Here are the links for both.

Avast - 'http://avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
(http://avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html)

AVG - 'http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
(http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff)

Hope this helps,
Shaw

Norton is not very compatible with Vista. It can and will cause many issues that is not desirable. If you can take it back to the store and get your money back or get a credit do it as soon as possible.

Avast is very good and it works quite well with Vista and on top of it there is no cost. It is free to download.

If you read many posts you will see what Norton can cause.

Be glad! Norton is CRAP and you are much better off without it. It will
completely mess up your computer.

Sorry... I only respond to the ng... how, otherwise, will our responses help
others? That said, LOL, my response will not help anyone!

Who told you a patch was needed? Perhaps that source can disclose the
location for said patch.

Must agree with other posters: Norton is, hmm, "not worthy"? Can you return
it for a refund?

My advice... If it says Symantec/Norton on it, avoid it!!
AVG is a good AV and free, available at http://free.grisoft.com
Avast is highly recommended and free at http://www.avast.com

Hi,

The following are for your problems and it's your choice to keep it or not:

(1) Download latest version:
http://service1.symantec.com/Support...eg=hho&src=hot

(2) Tech support (chat, email, phone):
http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoff...?pvid=nav_2007

If you decided to keep, suggest to contact support first and make sure your

Hope this helps and good luck.

I've had not problems installing or running Norton AV 2007, Norton
Internet Security 2007 or Norton 360 under VISTA.

The only "patch" I know about with the last two is a Norton Add-On to
add Anti-Spam and AD-blocking to them -- it's a free download from the
Symantec/Norton site.

Note that I do always install utilities and applications using the Run
as Administrator function that you get when you right mouse click on
the file that starts the installation. Either the downloaded file you
purchased or downloaded for trial, or on the CD where you need to stop
the autoplay by holding down the CTRL button.
