I haven't been able to install updates since Oct 15 and now can't install a
new program (QuickBooks Basic 2005). I'm trying to resolve the Windows Update
issue - hoping that once this is fixed I can install the software. Here is
what I've done to try to resolve this issue:
I've done the following tips found at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798
except for "Method 7". After each method I would try to do the windows update
but it would fail each time.
The critical updates that won't install are:
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool (KB873374)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB873339)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB885835)
Critical Update for Windows XP (KB886185)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB885836)
