Recently purchased a used system that had XP Pro on it. Tried to install SP
1 & 2 and it aborted. Stated that I did not have the correct XP Pro id to
allow an update. Label on bottom of system indicated it had XP Home
originally. Any ideas on how to resolve this?
Thanks

If the guy who sold you the "hot" system didn't include the
XP Pro upgrade CD and PK , you will have to buy a retail CD.
Not sure, but you might need to buy a full install, if the
whole installation is pirated.
In any case, you only need to install SP2, SP1 is included .

You can order a SP2 CD free from MS.

You should be able to buy an XP Upgrade with SP2 included.
A repair install should work, if the currently installed XP
Pro is not pirated, otherwise you will need a full retail XP
Pro.
