Tried installing SP2 on different admin accts and in safe
mode (which it won't allow me to install in safe mode).
Installation hangs about 3/5 through with the following
error:

Cannot copy file sprb0407.dll (retry/cancel)

Retry (naturally) never works. Hitting cancel then takes
me to a screen that says:

Ensure that the location specified below is correct or
change it and insert "Windows Service Pack 2 Source
Files" in the drive you specify.

(Retry/Cancel/Browse)

Have tried each of the choices above without success.
This is where it hangs EVERY time (and then needs to
uninstall). Checked dll-files.com and they do not show a
sprb0407.dll.

Thoughts???

Jason,

Did you have any beta versions of SP2 installed previously ? Did you
download SP2 or attempt installing from the CD ? Just finished
extracting the files from XPSP2.exe on the CD and there is no
sprb0407.dll included. There was one included in the previous beta
version though.

Thanks MowGreen ...

I actually didn't do any beta tests. Perhaps I should order the CD or
download all of SP2 to my HD. I'm intrigued that I would have ended up with
a beta from my Windows Update section. That does seem odd.

We'll give that a go

Thanks for the help!

Thanks MowGreen!

Interesting that finding of a dll from a beta test. I didn't in fact
participate in any beta for SP2. But your comment makes me wonder if my temp
file is corrupt in some way. I'll try downloading the full SP2 to my HD and
avoid using my Win Update to see if I can get a better result! Thanks again!
