I just replaced my 32 bit version of Vista Ultimate with the 64 bit and
then tried to install Subsystem for Unix Applications

There are 3 downloads on the site , an amd64 an IA64 and an x86 version

The x86 version unsurprisinglt installed perfectly ok on the 32bit OS ,
however for the 64bit Vista I have tried all 3 without success

All return the same error

The installation package is not supported by this processor type.
Contact your product vendor

I assume that the amd64 is for AMD processors , the IA64 for Itanium
and x86 for 32bit

The processor I am using is a T9300 Intel Core 2 duo on a thinkpad t61

Does anyone know whether there is a solution to this problem ?

Thanks

Dave

I believe you won't get any of them to work - unless I miss my guess these
are all server based components. Have you tried installing SUA from the
Programs and Features icon in Control Panel?

Yup, I have gone into control panel and added the feature

When that feature is added, it adds a link to the programs which take
you to the webpage to download. of the 3 versions to download , non
works

With 32 bit vista installed, the x86 version works perfectly

According to the download page ( 'Download details: Utilities and SD
for Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Microsoft Windows Vist
SP1/Windows Server 2008 RTM
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
) , the supported operating systems are

Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista Enterprise; Windows Vista Enterpris
64-bit edition; Windows Vista Service Pack 1; Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition

SUA is listed as a feature of Vista Ultimate and 64bit is supposedl
supported

Hi David,
I have the exact same problem as you.

But my notebook is an HP dv7t.

If you solved your problem, can you share the solution.

Thanks,

Bejoy
