Cannot install update. Error Code 0x8007007E

Two Windows XP Updates for hardware (Nvidea audio & Silicon Image Raid) will
download, but refuse to install, with the Error Code 0x8007007E.
The KB does not recognise this error code, and I am sick of the pass-around
one suffers on the Windows Help site.
Any ideas, please?

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/ has 0x8007007E
in the top spot, but that's for not being able to access Windows Update,
which isn't your problem. You could try their Urlmon.dll/Cabinet.dll fix for
that error code, but since it's for a different problem, it might not fix yours.

You might want to try Dial-a-fix, for many problems, on top at Google:

In addition, some have had success at re-registering the wuapi.dll
Click start, select Run and then type: regsvr32 wuapi.dll
