I am having problems installing updates as they keep failing. I think it may
be something to do with Windows Installer as other programmes had failed a
couple of weeks ago but I did a system restore thinking I had fixed that. Is
there a way to check or repair the installer? I have Visat.
Thanks

Are you running Vista, Vista SP1, or Vista SP2?

Which updates are failing to install? What error messages might you get
when the installs fail?

Apolgies for the lack of detail...not done this before!
I am on SP1 and when I look at the failed installs they are nearly all for
Microsoft Office with the exception of one that says that it is an update
to.NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.
I'm not getting a message as such - it is just the the Windows updater is
always showing the icon so I keep checking it and have lots of failed
attempts to install?

No problem. We're getting there.

What version of Office is installed, Andy (e.g., Office 2007 SP1)?

If you run/check for updates manually via the Start menu shortcut, is the
..NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 update listed as an Optional or Important
update?
