Hi Salsakidd,
> BULL! Refusal to accept that there is a problem isn't going to make it go away. You need to contact Asus support with this issue regarding the BIOS on their motherboard: http://support.asus.com/default.aspx?SLanguage=en-us Also, the report under XP isn't going to reveal the issue that Vista's installer is running into. As well, the upgrade advisor tool only can report on problems it is aware of, and cannot detect or report on issues that it doesn't know about. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Salsakidd" <> wrote in message news:99FEE5C7-96D1-480A-935B-... > Tried to upgrade XP SP2 to vista ran the compatability thing and no > problems... hit install and get a message that my PC is not comatable with > ACPI. > BULL! > I enabled it in the BIOS along with the ACPIec compatability setting. <snip> |

You do have an obsolete ACPI version (a 2002 version) on that MOBO. You can
try with the ACPI compatibility setting enabled and disabled. What ACPI settings are available. S1, S3, etc. "Salsakidd" <> wrote in message news:99FEE5C7-96D1-480A-935B-... > Tried to upgrade XP SP2 to vista ran the compatability thing and no > problems... hit install and get a message that my Thank you Rick, but don't get me wrong. I don't deny there's a problem... I
just Know that my MOBO IS ACPI compatible. I'm updating the BIOS anyway, just in case. You would think that Intel CPU's & MOBO's made for Intel CPU's would be easier to work with Vista. Just a bit frustrated after spending all weekend rebuilding & upgrading my PC, JUST so I can install Vista. Hi,
The ACPI standard changes as hardware evolves. The BIOS may be out of date for Vista. Personally I prefer AMD over Intel, just better luck for me. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Salsakidd" <> wrote in message news:287FB507-3B72-41B9-92F9-... > Thank you Rick, but don't get me wrong. Hi john
I have downloaded new BIOS (Beta) ver.0505. Didn't work. ACPI options are S1, S3 and Auto. I also downloaded and installed the new ACPI drivers, but that didn't work either. I think it might be a hardware device that is causing it, but how do I figure out which one? I guess I'll try updating the firmware on all I can. Couldn't hurt, could it?
