0x80070005 usually indicates a Permissions issue. Specifically, which
update are you attempting to install ?
There *should* be an installation log located in the WINDOWS directory
[folder] created when the system attempted to install the update.
It will look like this : KBxxxxxx.log [the x's represent the KB number
of the update]
Please post the KBxxxxxx.log for the specific update that will not install.

Was SP3 downloaded via Automatic Updates, from the Windows |Microsoft
Update sites, or was this a manual download ?

FWIW, the version of update.exe is lower than it should be.

> WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\fd0264849c01 086f3c6b505dc02dbd44\update\update.exe (version 6.3.13.0)

The above is the version level of update.exe when SP2 is applied.
I'm fairly certain that when SP1 is applied this will show in the
svcpack.log
> update.exe (version 5.6.1012.0)

Apparently, your version of Windows is XP Gold. It must be upgraded to
at least Service Pack 1 before XP SP3 can be applied.

Well, that explains the differing Version numbers. It helps us immensely
if you post the Version of Windows that is having issues.

Visit the above page and click the " Change " link towards the top right
of the page to choose your geographic location. Free support for
installation isuues are available to you. Since there is no chat or
email support outside of the US and Canada, use the phone support.
