A program I recieved as a gift requires XP Service Pack 1 to run. I
downloaded the file from the windows website and saved t to my computer.
Whenever I try to install it, it gives me the error message, "File
c:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys is open or in use by another
application. Please close all other applications to continure." It gives the
options retry or cancel. There aren't any other applications that I can see
open or running, and I even disabled all programs at startup by running
msconfig! I am completely baffled and haven't been able to reach Microsoft
about this issue, hopefully somebody here can help me.
Sincerely,
Travis

Which version of Windows are you actually running??
download Belarc Advisor (www.belarc.com) run it, and see what it reports!

Please run the Belarc Advisor and copy/paste the 'Installed HotFixes'
section of the result to your response
