Cannot link from Outlook to IE

hen clicking on link inside of an email, the browser will load
but the site will not. I get a cannot find msg. If IE is loaded in the
background, the link will work.
If I make Firefox my default browser, then the link loads the browser and
website correctly.
Also, from inside programs, if there is a button to upgrade, for example,
and IE is not loaded in the background, the link is not found, error msg.
Why should hyperlinking work with Firefox but not MSIE?
Also, this problem occurs only with one of the three user accounts on the
computer.

Although the information is for XP/OE, it may be applicable in your
situation. If you need to register any .dll's, don't forget to run cmd
elevated in Vista.

1. Click Start
2. Type: cmd
3. Right-click cmd when it appears under Programs
4. Click Run As Administrator

If this doesn't work for you, then post your question in an Outlook
newsgroup where the experts there may have a better answer.

Thank you, your suggestion worked.
There was "unknown application" listed. that procedure. When I clicked on
it one of the choices was IE. I chose it and everything seems to be working
fine. I recall now that had I had used FoxFire for a few days a week or so
ago. Maybe switching back and forth caused it to cancel the application out.
Who knows?

BTW, the transfer protocol you mentioned was at the bottom of the list, past
the regular listing of associations and in a category called Protocols.

Thanks very much for reporting that this worked in Vista. The details
