Resolved now...
When I upgraded to Vista (I bought the upgrade option), I selected the
"clean install" option. This moves existing settings (including existing XP
Administrator account settings) to a windows.old folder, and creates a "new"
Administrator account for Vista which has no password, and also no Admin
rights.
Re-installed XP Pro (SP2) from scratch, and then upgraded correctly, all was
OK, and I could install drivers etc.
Still noticed a few problems after upgrade, though. Hangs when clicking on
"Computer", and the occasional Blue Screen when inserting a DVD or CD. Gave
up in the end and upgraded PC...... (Old one was 5 years old, so perhaps
wasn't up to it.).
Thanks for the tips.
C.
PS: Also have a KBU, but this doesn't pass through monitor data, so have to
direct connect as well to setup display setting correctly....
