Cannot Locate a Working SP2 Download

I have enabled auto update and spent a while installing some critical updates
that I was prompted to, but windows update has never suggested the download
of SP2. I have managed to find a download elsewhere for SP1, which is now
installed, but I cannot seem to find a similar download to allow me to get
SP2 working.

The only reason I am doing this is so that I can enable windows to recognise
the full 160Gb of my new hard drive (replacement hard drive, not in addition
to my previous one). It only appears as 127Gb at the moment, so if anyone
has a different method to get the rest of the disk to work, then that would
be great. Thanks for any responses.

Hi,

SP2 is available at the Microsoft Download Center
(standalone "network" version, 266 MB):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...5-9e368d3cdb5a

(disregard the "intended for IT professionals and developers" part,
it can be used on a single computer as well)

If you do not have broadband at home, but you have at work or you have
friends that have it, you can download it there and burn it to a CD.

If you think that the download is to large, you can get the same
file on a CD from Microsoft.

The Windows XP SP2 CD order point:

For folders you can consider deleting and other disk cleanup tips
after a successful SP2 installation, take a look here:

Thanks a lot for your quick response. I have however already tried that link
for the 266Mb installer of SP2, I just remembered. Still, I downloaded and
ran the file again but nothing happens! Unlike the SP1 self-extractor that
initiated its setup afterwards, this one for SP2 simply extracts everything
to a temp folder and then does nothing. And moments later the temp folder
has disappeared anyway!

As I said before, I'm really just trying to enable the remaining 33Gb of my
hard drive. Is there any other way I can do this, as it doesn't look like
I'll have SP2 running any time soon.
