There is a bootable CD with a registry editor on it. I don't know enough to
know if that would help.
My disk is labeled PCRegEdit 1.0. It's a bootable Linux disc, but the tool
is for repairing Windows registries.
It's at
http://www.pcregedit.com/ - the version is still 1.0 (there's a
button on the site labeled 2.0, but it's the same file), and it's still
free. I have no idea which versions of Windows it works well on.
