When I attempt to logon to my NAS (Linkstation) at home Vista askes for user
name and password eventhough the Linkstation doesn't have any user accounts
or password enabled. Hoping to solve the problem by setting up a user
account and password on the linkstation but, that didn't work. When I insert
the users name and password then select okay, Vista puts the following in
the user name fillin "domain name\users name". I have selected the name of
the home workgroup but Vista continues to ask for correct users name and
password. I know this is related to Vista being a member of a domian at
work. I setup a seperate profile on the workgroup as a test and can access
the linkstation wihtout any problems.
Here is my setup:
Have Beta2 installed on notebook which I have joined to Small Business
Server 2000 Domian at work on wired LAN. My home network is a wireless
workgroup (MSHOME) with a Linkstation (wired) to router. Problem: Vista
recognizes the pc's, network printer, Linkstation which doesn't have user
accounts or passwords required. I would really like to not resort to using
two profiles (one for domain at work and one for workgroup at home) Any
ideas how to map the linkstation using the domain profile without Vista
mandating users names and passwords.
Thanks,
RichC
