I was following a microsoft online tutorial about WORD xml language when this
problem appeared. In the tutorial they show you how to take a look at the
XML information of a docx file by first changing the file extension to zip
(filename.docx.zip). then if you click on this file it opens it with IE7 and
you should be able to see the different components of this file by exploring.
This was working great until i closed IE7 to create another file. I must
have pressed the wrong key or something but from that point on, I cannot open
a zip file in this matter and do not know another way to look at the xml
components. If I try to do it, it throws IE7 in a loop where it seems that
it tries to open and then shuts down itself. open close open close open
close. I have checked that IE7 is the predetermined program to open zip
files, and also have restored ie7 to its original manufacturer configuration
and still have the same issue.

any thoughts?

2007 Word gives the writer to save a document with the .docx extensio
indicating it is stronger security, etc. I found it best to save as
97 - 2003 document with the .doc extension

The solution I found is to save the file (.docx) to a cd for safety.
Then go to the .docx file on the computer and change the extension t
.doc It worked for me with a valid document. If you can't see th
extentions in Explore, then go to Organize and click on Folder an
Search Options. Then go to View and remove the check in Hide extensio
for known file types

This may be an isolated solution for just the .docx extension.
haven't had other
