Cannot open file/folder properties in Windows Explorer

I can no longer open file/folder properties in Windows Enxplorer (Vista Home
Premium) -- neither by right clicking on files or folders, or selecting
various menu options to get into file/folder properties. For example, when I
right click on a file or folder in Windows Explorer, I get a message that
"Windows Explorer has stopped working," followed by a message that "Windows
Explorer is restarting."

This problem is relatively new -- probably occurring within the last three
weeks.

I would appreciate any insight or help anyone could suggest to solving this
problem.

Thanks.

Hi Gold,

This might be a shell extensions problem. See "Method 2" here:

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:

Thank you for your quick reply, Ramesh. You were correct. The culprit was
a Context Menu shell extension for PowerDeskPro. Specifically, the extension
name was PowerDesk Zip Extension.

This problem is very puzzling since I have been using PowerDeskPro (updated
to be Vista compatible) on my Vista system for over a year. I'm not sure why
this problem would only surface now. The only software updates in the last
month have been Windows updates and an update to Norton 360 version 2. In any
event, the immediate problem is solved. I'll have to check to see if any
PowerDesk Zip functionality is effected. If you have any ideas on how to
restore or repair the context menu handler, please let me know.

Thanks again!

See if reinstalling the program helps.
