Cannot open Powerpoint 2003 in Vista

I am not able to use any features of Powerpoint 2003 in Vista. Some of the
problems:

1. When I double click a PPT file, the PPT program opens up, but I cant see
the slides.
2. For some files, whic do open, I can only see the first slide
(irrespective of the number of slides in the existing file)
3. When I try to create a new file, I cant save it.

After opening the file, WHATEVER I might do, I get an error message that
PowerPoint stopped working. It asks me whether I want to send the error
information. I tried to collect the error information (which I see when I
click "View Information" button before sending the error information to
Microsoft). Here are the various error message details:

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\3814723.cvr
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER3717.tmp.version.txt
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER4C1E.tmp.appcompat.tx t
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER6154.tmp.mdmp

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\4938211.cvr
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER5EB4.tmp.version.txt
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER76E6.tmp.appcompat.tx t
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER84CC.tmp.mdmp

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\4999145.cvr
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER4895.tmp.version.txt
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER6597.tmp.appcompat.tx t
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WER673E.tmp.mdmp

Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\5089610.cvr
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WERAAEF.tmp.version.txt
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WERCC84.tmp.appcompat.tx t
C:\Users\memory vision\AppData\Local\Temp\WERCE2A.tmp.mdmp

Please help me to come out the problem. I am a corporate trainer and I cant
survive without PPTs.

Thanks.

As an interim step, until you can solve the problem, you might try
OpenOffice.org. OpenOffice Impress can import and export ppt files - it
won't cost you anything to find out if this will work. I have submitted
several ppt projects done entirely with OpenOffice, and no one was ever
any the wiser.

Shut UP. Why would someone want to use the inferior OpenSores software when
they already have PowerPoint? They want it fixed and it's probably a simple
fix. Your solution is to install OpenOffice run it and then still have
problems with PowerPoint. Their time would be better spent trying to solve
the issue at hand rather than lower themselves to use an inferior OpenSores
product that nobody wants.

Get a clue.

You might bet better results posting in the microsoft.public.powerpoint
forum.

Just ignore the post by "ray". He is a Linux/Ubuntu fanatic and offers
idiotic advice.

It would see reasonable to me that if someone owns powerpoint and cannot
get it to function that they might consider using another product until
that can get it to work. I guess you're more interested in 'MS purity'
than you are in getting work done.

Idiotic advice like how to get your work done when you cannot get results
from your installed software or productive advice from anyone else in the
group. If you can't offer a solution, it seems to me you have little room
to complain. At least I've offered an interim solution to get the work
done until the answer appears.

BTW - I have no special love for Ubuntu. I use it, as a tool. It is only
one of five OS's I use on a regular basis - the best tool for the job at
hand.
