Cannot open WMP(11) in Vista.



Hello I am in need of and would appreciate some assistance.



I am running Vista Home Premium on an Acer Aspire 5738Z. The system was in
place when the laptop was purchased in UK.



I run automatic updates for Vista and regularly update and scan with Avira,
Spybot, Reg Mec and Malwarebytes.



WMP(11) has been working fine until V recently. I have recently loaded SONY
HANDYCAM PMB (ver4.2.00) from the disc which came with a recently (UK)
purchased SONY HANDYCAM.



I am suspicious that this may be the root cause of the problem. I think
that WMP(11) is running in the background as I'm pretty sure that is still
on my system. It is in Computer and program files. Neither I nor other
parties' e.g. clips from websites can seem to open it.



I do not know what to do next.

Hello "Dave-UK" Thank you for you assistance.

However, Reg Mec flagged up registry changes this morning. On completing the
scan it had fixed 200 problems.

I am some what surprised about this as I scan regularly.

I then used Reg Mec to defrag and then restarted. I then found your message
and subsequently when looking for WMP.

Guess what? That's right, it opened first time. I can open it now from video
files or from the start menu.

Hopefully it will be okay now.
