Cannot receive updates error: 0x800A01AD

I cannot receive Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 1 update, receiving the
error: 0x800A01AD. I have since followed the troubleshooting docs with no
success.

I'm convinced my computer too many viruses to make it workable. I am
attempting to reformat my computer.

Can anyone help me in reference to the error message I've recieved and/ or
reading material on reformating my computer (cleaning everything off and
treating my computer as if its new)

The error you are receiving may occur if a certain dll is
missing or not properly registered.

1. click Start
2. click Run
3. type regsrv32 MSXML3.dll
4. click OK

As to formatting and reinstalling on your hard drive, it
is important that certain steps be taken and in a very
specific order.
