Hi,
Am having the same Issue with regards to trying to un-install W.L.E.; I cannot install any other Windows Live Products because of an Error with the Windows Photo Gallery, as well as W.L.E. not un-installing. I'd apperciate help with this.
Thanks.

Greetings
You can try to manually uninstall Messenger by clicking Start, then Run, pasting in
msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C
and clicking OK
If you're using Vista, copy/paste the above line into the Start menu's Start Search field and
press Enter on your keyboard
After that you can go ahead and install 8.5 by running this Microsoft Installer file

Cannot reinstall Live Essentials b/c can't uninstall.
Hi All
I tried to uninstall Live Essentials and all it does is the screen blinks
and nothing happens. When I try to log into Live Messenger, typing my ID is
very slow, then it says, "We can't sign you in to Windows Live Messenger"
with an Error code: 8004888d. I've tried to download a fresh copy but it
says that, "Couldn't install programs" with Error: 0x800b0004
Any idea what I can do to fix this? I'm running Web Messenger now.

Hi Jonathan
Thanks for you suggestions (I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit).
Unfortunately, after installing 8.5, the same thing happened. I get the
message, "Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is
temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Error code: 80048883
Any other ideas? Thanks
