Hi All,

I tried to uninstall Live Essentials and all it does is the screen blinks
and nothing happens. When I try to log into Live Messenger, typing my ID is
very slow, then it says, "We can't sign you in to Windows Live Messenger"
with an Error code: 8004888d. I've tried to download a fresh copy but it
says that, "Couldn't install programs" with Error: 0x800b0004.

Any idea what I can do to fix this? I'm running Web Messenger now.

Greetings,

You can try to manually uninstall Messenger by clicking Start, then Run, pasting in:
msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C}
and clicking OK.

If you're using Vista, copy/paste the above line into the Start menu's Start Search field and
press Enter on your keyboard.

After that you can go ahead and install 8.5 by running this Microsoft Installer file:

Hi Jonathan,

Trying to uninstall again. Got rid of MSN Messenger but couldn't uninstall
Live Essentials. I tried your link again and it says that I can't uninstall
something that isn't there.

Not sure what other info I can give you. Any help is appreciated.

Leo

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for you suggestions (I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit).
Unfortunately, after installing 8.5, the same thing happened. I get the
message, "Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is
temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. Error code: 80048883"

Any other ideas? Thanks.

Hi,

Am having the same Issue with regards to trying to un-install W.L.E.; I cannot install any other Windows Live Products because of an Error with the Windows Photo Gallery, as well as W.L.E. not un-installing. I'd apperciate help with this.

Thanks.

Greetings,

By WLE I assume you mean Windows Live Essentials. Which products are you trying to
install/uninstall exactly?

Are you trying to install the Photo Gallery, or you already have it, or?
