Cannot restart after installing SP2

My system is totally down. Icannot even reboot in the
safe mode or prevous configuration mode..

I get the following error message on a blue screen when I
attempt to reboot:

STOP: C0000135(Unable to locate component)
This application has failed to start because WINSRV was
not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the
problem.

How can I reinstall anything if I can't boot it up.
Where would I fin WINSRV?
Any Ideas on how I can get my computer up and running?

I am having the same problem. my desktop is totatly down. It just keep on
restarting and not booting up. I can not use any of the safe mode or any mode
on the safe mode sceen. I downloaded SP2 fine but now I can not get into my
computer. My recsue disk do not work to fix the problem as well. Can anyone
assist in the problem we are having.

This winsrv problem's been around for many years

There's a new option in Advanced Options Menu <F8>
- Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure -
to avoid continuous reboot cycle

Then you can read the blue-screen & research STOP error

Try

1. Within recovery console (first R on XP CD boot) run C:\chkdsk /r -- then
reboot

2. copying winsrv.dll (expand from CD - look it up) from within recovery
console - if it's just a corrupt file

3. repair install (2nd R on XP CD boot) - if, more than likely, it's a
corrupt registry.
Repair Install (look it up) keeps all your settings & programs, but you will
need to rerun all updates - and SP2 is the fastest way to do all that

I just received a possible fix from microsoft. I am
suppose to reboot using my original XP cd and reinstall
winsrv.dll. They said they will send me a copy of
winsrv.zip to accomplish this..I am waiting for that
email attachment before I can do this..Supposedly I may
have a corrupted winsrv.dll file
