cannot restore backup file..

I had formatted my computer and made a back up file in a hardisk..
in my hardisk there is a *-Backup Set.....-* file..
i tried to restore it but i can't restored it.
there is any suggestions how to restore the file

What disk ? - how did you try to restore ?
