Cannot Run Standard Games....

I've got a new laptop with Vista Home Basic installed. When I try to run any
of the standard games, I get the following message:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an asscociation in the Set Asscociations control panel.

Why weren't the associations set when Vista was installed? What might have
delted them? How exactly do I reset the associations?

Thanks for the help.

Martin

I found the answer in another post. I used a utility to remove the shortcut
arrows on my desktop icons. For some reason, this causes the problem. Once
I re-added the arrows (using the same utility) and restarted, the games are
working fine again. I still DO NOT LIKE the shortcut arrows though. I guess
I'll have to live with them.
