Cannot run Windows or Microsofte update

I am trying to run Windows/Microsoft updates but get error message 0xC8001FE.
I tried following
"net stop wuauserv"
Renaming the directory "winnt\software distribution"
Restart PC and then trying windows/microsoft update again
but no joy.
