Cannot run Windows Update From Browser

My XP Home will not run windows update now from the browser. This just
started. Any new virus that would cause this?

What happens when you try? Please post the exact error messages you get.
Also, what SP level is XP running?

This is unlikely to be a virus, but of course it goes without saying that
all computers need good, current-generation AV software that runs resident &
is kept updated regularly. Also, a firewall is mandatory. Since it goes
without saying, perhaps it's silly for me to say it, but there you go.
