cannot scan my computer

dear assitance,

the following is the pop up window which i receive when i want to scan my
computer for VIRUS through trend micro internet security 2007 software :
"Scan did not succeed. Please consult the online help systems for
instructions."
Also when i try to remove the software through add remove program it says
that " windows installer system could not be found". Please hepl me out asap.

You can get the Windows Installer Cleanup tool:

Install this, run it, and look for something which is the application
represented by the prompt you are seeing. You can then remove the installer
information for this app, and that will remove the message.

I would then uninstall the cleanup tool--it shouldn't be needed on any
routine basis, and there's some risk to leaving it around.
