New computer running XP Pro. Went to WU did downloads, WGA installed, some
failed upon reviewing update history. I was going to check my errors and
come ask the group next steps upon reboot I went to check update history to
write down all the errors -- No history!? It all disapeared! I check add or
remove programs in the control panel - all updates show as installed, but
now I do not know how many or if any failed.

Anyone know how I can get update history to populate again? And what happen?

Displays the list of all Windows updates (Service Packs and Hotfixes) installed
on your local computer.
www.nirsoft.net
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wul.html

Some users prefer: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit

From Microsoft - Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../mbsahome.mspx

Did you delete anything under SoftwareDistribution folder or rename the folder
itself?
If you deleted the contents of the folder DataStore - you would lose your
history.

Thank you for the direction and postings. Anyone of your suggestion "better"
than the others?

I did discover how the data was lost . . . 13 year olds know everything and
love to help . . . I found article ID 822798 in the trash, he did clear the
distribution folder, just glad he did not try the other fixes listed . . . so
he admits . . .

At least you know what happened to your history.

As for suggestions, the first one is very basic, the others do a more detailed
thorough examination. It's just a matter of choice really.
