cannot send messages - emails in outbox

My outbox has messages in them and they will not send. These were test
emails to see if all is working properly.

Please select and copy / paste the error message that is obtained when
sending fails.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of

Change the outgoing server name to mail.btinternet.com, and make
sure you have send authentication enabled: Tools, Accounts, select
that account, Properties, Servers. Check the "My server requires
authentication" box.

If no improvement (same error message), which antivirus are you
running? Some of them cause problems with Windows Mail over time.

I also have the same problem, i have followed your advice and am led to beleive that it is my virus/spyware. I am running AVG and Spyware terminator. I have updated these but unsure what else i would need to do to them to get my email up and running.

All help gratefully received.
