Hi,

After a week or so signing in to Windows Live Messenger service without
issue I am no longer able to sign in to the service. At this point I am
experiencing this issue on only on workstation.

OS info:
Windows Vista x86-64 (All current updates installed)
Internet Explorer v8.0 beta 2
Windows Live beta

Troubleshooting steps taken so far:
Repair Windows Live installation - no help
Remove and install Windows Live beta - no help

I can log in from the following workstations:
Workstation 1
Windows XP x86 (All current updates installed)
Internet Explorer v7.0
Windows Live beta

Workstation 2:
Windows Vista x86 (All current updates installed)
Internet Explorer v8.0 beta 2
Windows Live beta

Here is the way to solve it.

For WinXP, go to

C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts

and delete the respective email that could not sign you in.

For Windows Vista, go to
C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts

and delete the respective email as well.

If the issue still cannot be resolved, try to delete the whole "Windows Live
Contacts" folder will do. Kindly reminded that do a backup first before
delete it.

Deleting the directory "Windows Live Contacts" resolved the issue which
turned out to be broader than just WL Messenger. It also affected WL Mail.

Thank you.

Yea man I have the EXACT same problem! Every time I try to log in i
says

"Signing into Windows Live Messenger Beta failed because the service i
temporarily unavailable. Please try again later

Error code: 84cb000a

I also have Windows Vista 64-bit with all updates. Although I am usin
Firefox but I did try IE 8 beta before. I also have Windows Live 200
Beta with all of the programs and I tried repairing it but it didn'
help. I am just thinking about uninstalling all the software an
reinstalling it but I'm just going to see if anybody else has an
information to offer

It worked very well this information.
I have vista, and i did all the steps mentioned. But for this to work you
have to exit the windows live messenger before to do it, because if you
doesn't the system won't let you erase the information.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah, I'm getting the exact same problem. Let's see, how can I explain
it. Oh yes,

I have a fresh install of Windows Vista Home Premium on a HP Pavilion
dv9000 series notebook. The install took place on November 14, 2008. So
here's the timeline:

*Day One:*
Installed & Activated Windows Vista Home Premium
Installed other software, *including* Windows Live Messenger 2009 beta,
where it was working.

*Day Two*:
Windows live Messenger 2009 beta stopped working. After re-opening,
Error Code 84cb000a appears. This is happening up to the present.

And by the way, WLM2009ß works perfectly on my Windows Vista Home Basic
system (Dell Vostro 1400 Notebook)

I also am getting an error code 84cb000a I am on XP, and I would love to
follow the solution above, but I do not have the file C:\Documents and
Settings\<your name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live
Contacts

I can follow the directory path just fine until the Local
Settings\Application Data step. I have no Local Settings folder. Can it be
found elsewhere?
