Hello

When i try to start the "Diagnostic Policy Service" I recive this error
message: (translated from Norwegian)

"windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service service on Local
Computer. Error: 5 – Access is Denied"

I have tried it in several user accounts including the administrator one.

Anyone know the cause of this problem?

I have the exact same issue on a clients PC, running Vista Home Premium

Multiple services do not start (event viewer, diagnostic polic
service) and the network and sharing centre doesn't work at all

Interesting to note, there are a lot of driver conflicts under networ
devices in the device manager, WAN miniports IPV4 and IPV6, som
rubbish called isatap (heaps of those, isatap.vic.optushome.com.au
being one of them)

...while searching everywhere to find an answer to this issue and
realizing there is no specific answer out there that I could find. I
was able to put 2 and 2 together thru all the readings and this is what
I was able to do to my system....low and behold it is working great
now.

go to the security properties of your C: drive and make sure that USERS
and CREATOR OWNER are included in the group.

open your registry editor as an administrator,
goto...HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...SYSTEM...ControlSet001 ...Services...WdiServiceHost

make sure the Object name is NTAUTHORITY\LocalService
Do the same for the WdiSystemHost folder and the DPS folder

these have to match in order to work.

Reboot and try your diagnose and repair option for internet connection,
it should work now.
