If your Verdammt software is the culpit, then you must find the setting
in your Verdammt software to change the sound setting.
But if it is Windows XP that is producing the sounds, you can change that
in Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. On the Sounds Tab.
You have to select each one in turn and set each one to none (in the drop
down).
At least leave Windows Startup and Window Exit the way they are, unless
you don't want to hear the Windows startup sound and Windows Exit sound.
I leave the Device Connect and Device Disconnect also. I like to hear
when a USB device is connected or disconnected.
