Greetings,

You can manually uninstall Messenger by clicking Start, then Run (if not using Vista),
inputing the following and hitting enter:
msiexec /x {B1403D7D-C725-4858-AACC-7E5FA2D72859}

You can find the other IDs for the other parts of the latest beta applications here on my
blog:

Thanks for beta testing.

This may happen if you are not logged on as an administrator. If you are
logged on with a normal account, please try again as an admin. We will try
to be more explicit in our messaging around this scenario.

If you are logged in as an admin and still experience the issue, please
email me.

Thanks,

A better solution is to find an uninstall tool online. I would recommend Final Uninstaller. It’s very easy to use and can uninstall Windows Live Messenger completely. Go to their website and download one: http://finaluninstaller.com/

Hope this helps.

I've worked out how to do it! No need to install any uninstallers. If
you have Vista (which I guess you do: as this is Vista Forums) then this
will work for you. You will need to restore your computer of what it was
before you downloaded Beta. All it will do is remove all the things
installed from when you installed Beta (it won't delete pictures or
other files like that). This is how to do it:

Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Backup and Restore Centre >
(on the left - Tasks) Create a Restore Point or Change Settings ..
Then I think there's something about changing a restore point (it will
probably be easy enough to work out from then on), change it to the day
before you downloaded Beta.

I understand that if you installed it a while ago, this will not work.
I think it is valid from the past 5 days. Also, if you've downloaded
anything important after Beta then it will wipe that out so be careful.

I hope I've helped, good luck everyone.
(This is how I did it, I was shown by a friend and wanted to help other
people with this problem as it really infuriated me xD)

Btw, the thing that annoyed be about Beta was that my custom emoticons
wouldn't come up by keyboard shortcut (though my friends could see them
if they were typed) and also some of my friends with IM's like Pidgin
(weird spelling?) couldn't see my DP and other things..
