I am the administrator for my computer, I sign in and go to my control panel
and when I select a program I want to unistall it says "the system
administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" for one I am
the system administrator and I am trying to uninstall, not to install, this
is really starting to tick me off and I need some help LOL. I have went to
the trouble section on windows and there is no help there, I have done what
it suggest and it has not helped, I have right clicked on it and tried to
even check in as administrator and that option is not available in control
panel, it is in menu options, but it does not let me uninstall in menu
opitions, someone please help me fix this

Start, type: gpedit.msc and hit enter.
Look at the settings in :
Computer Config/Admin Templ/Windows Components/Windows Installer/"Disable
Windows Installer"

Hi Nonny

In the registry, it will be at

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\Installe

In the right pane of Installer, right click on "DisableMSI" and clic
Delete. Answer Yes and restart the computer to apply the changes

Hope this helps

Hi Nonny,

Yes, Vista Basic and Premium do not have gpedit.msc included.
Everything has to be done through the registry instead for those
editions.

If you do not have the "DisableMSI" value there, then this is not the
setting that is disabled.

Well if you managed to install it you must have changed policies afterwards.

Right, and what if they don't know the Edition. The reg entry is still
there, but the reg hack fails on Pros. Since they don't say, I wait for
follow-up.
