cannot update due to error: 0xC80003FB

I just had my hard drive installed and cannot get any updates due to error,
it tells me I am connected to update. I am running windows 2000. Thanks

service pack 4 is what i am using and it is the last one on 2000. My
understanding is that microsaof no longer supports windows 2000 update....but
I would think it would still show what updates i can download. Thanks.

MS still supports Win 2K updating. Please do this ...
go to Start > Run > type in

net stop wuauserv
Click OK or press Enter

Back to Start > Run > type in

%windir%\softwaredistribution
Click OK or press Enter

Delete ALL of the subfolders of SoftwareDistribution
Close the window
Download and SAVE:

Windows Update Agent 3.0 [x86-32bit]
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x86.exe

KB927891 [ ** For Win2K *** ]
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

After the downloads complete close the browser and any other open programs
Install WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe
Now install Windows2000-KB927891-x86-ENU.EXE
Restart the system

IF the Automatic Updates service is set to Automatic then it will
restart upon rebooting

Go back to Start > Run > type in

wuauclt /detectnow
Click OK or press Enter
The updates *should* come down now

I received this error now....When searching for available updates on the
Update site, you receive the 0x8024402C error. Last updated : 05/27/2005
Problem description
This error usually happens because we are unable to locate the correct proxy
to access the internet or there is an invalid character in the proxy override
settings.

I did everything you stated below but still no updates. I am now
receiving the original error after attempting to update. is there another
way you can think of??? Any help and all your help is appreciated. Thanks

my machine is hard cord from my router, other two machines are on router
wireless. I have a modem, router, then hard cord to MY machine. Thanks
