Cannot update from few months

Hello,

Do not be surprised I had not search for help in few months, I was pretty
busy.

So everything started, when on the update page for Microsoft updates
appeared "Get Microsoft update today!" thing. From that day happens same
thing -- whatever I try to click, it makes a check "Checking the last updates
for your computer", then offers me menu:
( Note: When first loading "update.microsoft.com" it performs a check for
latest update software I have, but says nothing )

Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed
on your computer. To continue
(o) Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)
( ) Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem

After clicking "Continue" button, it makes a quick check of something ( too
fast, can't read it ) and displays "Download and install the latest updating
software", where a progress indicator with just percentages appear, counting
to 100%, then another check and a very quick reload ( there is printed on
screen that it performs another check but it's too fast to read, even copy
the text ) and finally returns me to the update welcome screen. This does not
happened before!

I am also unable to download the Microsoft Update tool.

What to do?

Win XP Home, SP2

Go here http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=89 and download the
latest AutoPatcher for XP and see if it can help.
