The following updates cannot be installed
Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2003 (KB969603)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB970011)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB969681)
Security Update for Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 (KB957784)

I checked and saw "services.msc" is set to Manual as required.

Have you asked the experts in the Office Update newsgroup?

First, see...

Description of the update for Office 2003 (December 9, 2008)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949074

If still no joy, insert the Office 2003 CD into the appropriate drive bay
prior to attempting the next install.

Same problem...
Error Code: 0x52F
Installation CD/DVD does not help. PC never looks at it.

Went to Office Update site (not Windows Update) and it attempted the same
install - PC sent diagnostic report to MS.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Tried the listool.exe (Local Installation Source) that has worked for some
folks several years ago for 0x52f errors. It recognizeds the Office
insatllation and CD and then throws 0x8007000f error - regardless of whether
I am enabling or disabling LIS.

Office 2003 SP3 is installed.

Disabled AV protection and tried all this again - no joy.

Confused and tired.

"Apparently 0x8007000f just means that it went back to
installation location (LIS or network location depending on installation
method) and the source files are not present."

I had the same problem - had to uninstall, reboot and reinstall the Office
programs. I have been using Glary and Wise registry programs, don't know if
they had anything to do with the update problem.
