I FORMATTED MY LAPTOP BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE.I THEN WENT TO UPDATE IT
WHICH IT DID( 65updates) ,BUT NOW IT WILL NOT LET ME.It said the
following..... Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered
or installed on your computer. To continue:

-- Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)....
Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem....
I HAVE TRIED TO REINSTALL THE FILES BUT I GET THE SAME MESSAGE WHEN I TRY TO
UPDATE...
ANYONE KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM,YOUR HELP WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED

REGARDS

you can try to install Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 5 (SP5):

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...1d8/msxml3.msi

SpeedyDuck,

Your keyboard is defective. The copy/paste function seems to work fine -
but when ever you type on your own text, it seems to be in all capital
letters. As that is difficult to read (at best) and considered the
newsgroup equivalent of shouting by many - you may want to get that checked.
It could be as simple as pressing the caps-lock key on the left side of your
keyboard and looking elsewhere to see if the light for it turned off (or
test-typing to see if you can type in proper mixed case at that point)
before posting. *grin*

It will not let you *what*? Update your PC?
So when you visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ --> you get the
message about the files not being registered?

Close all open windows...

Start button --> RUN --> type in (one at a time):

net.exe stop wuauserv
regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll
regsvr32 /s jscript.dll
regsvr32 /s atl.dll
regsvr32 /s softpub.dll
regsvr32 /s msxml3.dll
net.exe start wuauserv

Click OK after each one.

Try again.

Hey I was having the same exact problem after formating my laptop to it's
original form and after dloading the service pack you suggested everything is
now functioning properly. THANKS! I'm going to copy this and keep it on
file just in case it happens again!
