Cannot update using xp pro 64 bit beta

Every time i try and run the update (while logged in as myself and
administrator) it tell me that i need administrator privilages to run
windows update

Can anyone help with this. I know its a beta butno point in using it if i
cant keep my system secure

Because it is a Beta, there are no updates and probably not be any
updates.
The closest you may get is a newer build.
Also you should take Windows 64 bit questions to the 64 bit
newsgroups:

The Server newsgroup is correct.
