The code : Error_Invalid_Handle - d0000006 error
Has been associated with bad hardware.

>snip> from an older posting

Hi,
............ install fails with d0000006 error).
After some email exchanges, we found that the problem is due to some
problems with his hard-disk because of which some important files were in
bad blocks. He was able to solve the problem by running the "chkdsk /r"
command in a command prompt (open command prompt by typing "cmd" in
start->Run) which corrected the problems on the files on his machine.

Please try the above solution and see if that solves the problem.

Please let us know what you found.

The code : Error_Invalid_Handle - one possibility - bad hard drive

May be a problem with hard drive - important files may be located on bad
blocks.

Try running the "chkdsk /r" command at the command prompt

You will need to open the command prompt by typing "cmd" in start->Run

I tried this but the chkdsk said my C: drive was clean. I have two other
hard drives that I didn't check, but since my windows is on C: I figured I
didn't need to. I've got 5 updates I can't get installed.
