Please elaborate on what you are seeing.
If it is just the AU icon doubleclick on it
and tell us also what you see then.
It's possible that you are just misinterpreting what the presence of
the AU icon in the notification area means. If doubleclicking on it
just shows you a list of items for downloading (title is: Choose updates
to download), there would be nothing wrong.
Hmm... even if you are seeing a list of updates which are ready for
install another possibility would be that they would be residual from
your previous AU setting. In that case you could either install those
and then wait for subsequent notifications to prove that your new settings
have taken effect or cancel those downloads and then use the "Change
automatic updates settings" option to open the Automatic Updates settings
dialog again so you can click on "Offer updates again that I have previously hidden."
