Hi guys,

I keep getting error: [Error number: 0x8DDD0018] when I try to update. The
problem is that I think I have some services turned off which it needs. Event
log is on, BITS is on and Automatic Updates is on also.

Does anyone know of any other critical processes it needs to run windows
update?

** I had disabled some services after I installed XP to speed up startup
time**
Now I am unsure which services need to be turned back on

You may receive an error message that contains the "0x8DDD0018" code or the
"0x80246008" code when you try to download updates from the Microsoft Windows
Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;910337

Make sure that you have automatic updates turned on.

Make sure that the Remote Procedure Call Locator is not disabled:
Click Start, select Run and type in:
services.msc
Locate " Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator".
If it is disabled, then right click on it, go to 'Properties', change to
'manual' and Apply.
Try Windows Update Again
