I have an MP830 Canon scanner.. typically when you hit the scan to PDF
(duplex or otherwise) option on the unit.. Vista (x64) will then pop
up the scanning interface and save the pdf to the harddrive (based on
the settings that are stored in mp navigator v2.2.. which still look
fine)..

I cant get this to work anymore..

It will work fine if i first launch MP Navigator..

But upon pressing the hard button on the printer, i just get the vista
wait cursor for a half second.. then nothing.

I've tried reinstalling mp navigator and the printer driver to no
avail..

Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm thinking it may have something to do with missing registry keys
for launching the app, but i forget where these are stored..

I also suddenly cant even scan from MPNavigator itself.. i get "scan
failed".. my scanner driver is installed as Canon MP830 right now..
(I've turned off the printer, removed everything, registry included,
then reinstalled twice now with no luck).

Thanks

Dunno if you are aware of it or not, but Canon has drivers for vista. The
software that comes with the product should NOT be used. You need to dl the
new versions from Canon and some of the apps that come with the disk in the
box don't work with vista.

I was able to fix this..

I first created a new vista image (x64).. i then installed all the
drivers, got things working.. then exported the registry

On my old non functional harddrive image with the bad scanner
problems.. i exported that registry.. then imported the working
printer one.. then imported the bad scanner registry.. all is well..
seems to have been a registry thing.
