Can't access email from Messenger

I just downloaded Windows Live Messenger version 8.1
It shows that I have new email messages, but when I click the link to go to
my Inbox, nothing happens. I've also clicked on the alert when it informed me
of a new message, and nothing. Same with trying File, Go To, My
Inbox....nothing. I can only get at my email by going through internet
explorer into hotmail.
How can I fix my messenger so the email link works?

Were you using another version of Messenger before downloading WLM where this worked? If so,
it's possible that Internet Explorer is deadlocked. Try a reboot and see if that clears it
up.

Thanks, I just ended up adding msn plus to it and the problem is fixed. thanks
