Below is what happened. Now I can't access Windows Update. Can anyone
help?
Thanks,
Marsha

Copied from my post to other newsgroup.

When I started my computer I had a black screen with NTLDR missing. I ended
up pushing F11 & doing a Full System Restore (with backup). How do I copy
the files from the backup to the new file?
My computer is still under warranty & when the guy at eMachines couldn't get
it back up (he was trying with the recovery Cd they sent & it would not
work) he said the hard drive was ruint so they are sending me another one.
I have it up & running now. Any help appreciated. Do I need to go to
Windows Update to load all the fixes again? It isn't showing up in the
Security Icon.
Thanks,
Marsha

How does this relate to anything with Windows Vista Beta 2 release? I think
you posted in the wrong place...But to be nice (to you) A monkey with a
typewriter will be more helpful than anyone e-machines sends. Anyone can
insert a recovery CD.
If you did try Vista beta w/an e-machine, my opinion is wait for the new
hard drive and the Commercial release, if this is your only home computer.

The newsgroup listing I see is microsoft.public.windowsupdate
I thought it was a newsgroup for windows update. I am sorry for posting to
the wrong group & thank you for being nice in your reply. I appreciated it.

Check the newsgroup that you are posting in? <w>

You are posting using a web interface to NNTP newsgroups.
Which portal are you using (URL)?
Is it showing this newsgroup (Windows Update) listed within a group
for Vista? Then be aware that it would be sharing a common NG,
not a special one for Vista.

The OP's question is definitely on topic for this newsgroup.
I think though that she could get better assistance from a newsgroup
which specializes in her OS, which I suspect is more likely to be XP.

In fact, almost certainly is XP. From her headers:

>> [X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180]

Marsha,

Since you are using OE with msnews you can find XP newsgroups
(for English readers) by pressing Ctrl-w and typing: c.w xp.
(including the final dot. <w>)

Good luck
