can't access windows update page

I get the following message when trying to access the windows update webpage
anyone know what it means?

[Error number: 0x80072F76]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.

What would be the correct website to check for new / available updates?
I get this error when going thru contol panel/security for xp home ed.

then it defaults to (for me)
